Oceanside DMV Office Temporarily Closing for Renovations

Sacramento – The California Department of Motor Vehicles is alerting customers that the Oceanside office at 4005 Plaza Drive will be closing for renovations beginning 5 p.m. Thursday, October 20. The office is scheduled to reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday, December 22.

The improvements include new flooring, plumbing repairs and new interior paint.

During the renovations, customers can visit the following area offices:

San Marcos 590 Rancheros Drive 12 miles
Poway 13461 Community Road 27 miles
San Diego Claremont 4375 Derrick Drive 32 miles

The DMV has taken many steps to offer more digital services. Most DMV tasks do not require an office visit. The DMV encourages all customers to use its online services and other service channels to complete transactions, including eligible driver’s license and vehicle registration renewals. Customers can also use the Service Advisor on the DMV website to complete DMV tasks.

Get Your REAL ID

To apply for a REAL ID, visit REALID.dmv.ca.gov, fill out the online application and upload your documents. A visit to a DMV office is required to complete the application.

Starting May 3, 2023, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will require a valid passport or other federally approved documents, like a REAL ID driver’s license or identification card, to board flights within the United States and access secure federal facilities and military bases.
