Verify DMV-Issued Credentials

This application lets you to verify someone’s driver’s license (DL) or ID card, vehicle title, or disabled person parking placard (DPPP).

Start Verification

Before you begin:

  1. Be ready to scan the other person’s DMV items with your phone.

  2. If you are scanning physical items, make sure you have a well-lit area to view the barcode or QR code.

  3. If you are verifying someone’s digital items tied to their mobile driver’s license (mDL), make sure they have their phone ready with the CA DMV Wallet app.

Frequently Asked Questions

You can verify physical DL/ID cards, DPPPs with QR codes, or other DMV items with Instant ID barcodes.

The application can also scan any digital items linked to someone’s mDL in the CA DMV Wallet app (such as DL/ID, a DPPP ID card, or vehicle title).

After you start the application and select which item you are verifying, your screen will display a QR code for the other person to scan.

After they scan the code they will confirm the request in their CA DMV Wallet app and you will see the results on your screen.
