  Sacramento — The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) today announced that the Mendota office at 655 Quince St. will permanently close beginning at 4 p.m. Friday, September 26.
• Federal Government Ends Clean Air Vehicle (CAV) Decal Program
  (September 9, 2025)
  What you need to know: The federal government will no longer allow states to issue Clean Air Vehicle decals. This means that starting October 1, vehicles displaying a Clean Air Vehicle (CAV) decal will no longer be allowed to travel in carpool High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes with a single occupant or receive reduced toll rates in some areas.
• DMV’s New “Oxnard Express” Office in Port Hueneme Opens September 2

  What you need to know: The DMV is opening a new quick service office called “Oxnard Express” to the public on September 2 in the City of Port Hueneme. Most customers can save a trip to the office and do their DMV business online at dmv.ca.gov.

The DMV does not offer discounts on vehicle registration renewals and will never ask for payment or personal information through unofficial channels.

  Sacramento — The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) reminds people that the federal government is now enforcing the REAL ID Act. This means, that starting today, a REAL ID or other federally accepted form of identification is required to board domestic flights and enter secure federal facilities.

• Over 4 Million Test Miles Logged by Autonomous Vehicle Permit Holders in California

  Sacramento – Autonomous vehicles under testing permits have collectively covered over 4 million miles on California’s public roads from December 1, 2023, to November 30, 2024, the California Department of Motor Vehicles announced today.
• More DMV Customers to Complete Business Online Only

  Sacramento – The California Department of Motor Vehicles today announced that industry business customers, including registration services and vehicle dealerships, currently “posting fees” (a type of payment-only transaction) at an Industry Business Center (IBC) or other DMV office will instead be required to use the DMV’s Vehicle Industry Services online channel.
