FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 11, 2025

Sacramento – The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced that the Inglewood office at 621 N. La Brea Ave. will be closing at noon, today, Tuesday, February 11. The department is starting the process to build a new modern facility that will better serve the needs of the growing community.

The DMV had planned to close the office later this year when it was ready to start construction. However, after multiple repair efforts failed to mitigate continuous water issues and safety concerns, the department determined short-term repairs would not be cost effective. The current structure is more than 50 years old – built in 1972.

The DMV encourages customers to first try using its online services before visiting one of the following nearby offices:

  • Culver City: 11400 W. Washington Blvd. (5 miles from the Inglewood office)
    • The DMV has added six workstations at this office to handle an increase in customers.
  • Hawthorne: 3700 W. El Segundo Blvd. (5 miles from the Inglewood office)
  • Los Angeles: 3615 S. Hope St. (7 miles from the Inglewood office)
  • Torrance: 1785 W. 220th St. (13 miles from the Inglewood office)

The department is reaching out to customers with upcoming appointments at the Inglewood office to reschedule them at other offices.

Before Going to an Office – Try Online First

The DMV has taken many steps to offer additional digital services. Most DMV tasks do not require an office visit, including simple self-service transactions that are no longer available in offices. The DMV encourages customers to use its online services and other service channels to complete transactions, including eligible driver’s license and vehicle registration renewals. Customers can also use the Service Advisor on the DMV website to learn their options to complete DMV tasks.

To sign up for paperless vehicle registration and driver’s license renewal notices, customers must opt in by creating a secure online account and registering at dmv.ca.gov.
