Wilcox Ave. is reopening at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The office closed on September 27 for renovations and improvements including new flooring, interior paint, furniture and cabling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Area residents are encouraged to take this opportunity to apply for a REAL ID, which requires an office visit to complete the application. Starting May 7, 2025, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will require a valid passport or other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsa.gov\/travel\/security-screening\/identification\">federally approved documents<\/a>, like a REAL ID driver\u2019s license or identification card, to board flights within the United States and access secure federal facilities and military bases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before going to the office, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/driver-licenses-identification-cards\/real-id\/\">REALID.dmv.ca.gov<\/a> to fill out the online application, upload necessary documents and print your confirmation code. Bring your documents and confirmation code to the DMV office to finalize your transaction \u2013 no appointment is needed. Once at a service window, it now takes less than 10 minutes to complete the REAL ID transaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Before Going to an Office &#8211; Try Online First!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The DMV has taken many steps to offer more digital services. Most DMV tasks do not require an office visit. The DMV encourages customers to use its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/dmv-online\/\">online services<\/a> and other service channels to complete transactions, including eligible driver\u2019s license and vehicle registration renewals.
