{"id":214013,"date":"2023-10-24T10:58:23","date_gmt":"2023-10-24T17:58:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/?page_id=214013"},"modified":"2023-10-24T10:58:38","modified_gmt":"2023-10-24T17:58:38","slug":"dmv-statement-on-cruise-llc-suspension","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/news-and-media\/dmv-statement-on-cruise-llc-suspension\/","title":{"rendered":"DMV Statement on Cruise LLC Suspension"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<br>October 24, 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The California Department of Motor Vehicles today issued the following statement on the immediate suspension of Cruise LLC\u2019s deployment and driverless testing permits:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Public safety remains the California DMV\u2019s top priority, and the department\u2019s autonomous vehicle regulations provide a framework to facilitate the safe testing and deployment of this technology on California public roads. When there is an unreasonable risk to public safety, the DMV can immediately suspend or revoke permits. There is no set time for a suspension.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The California DMV today notified Cruise that the department is suspending Cruise\u2019s autonomous vehicle deployment and driverless testing permits, effective immediately. The DMV has provided Cruise with the steps needed to apply to reinstate its suspended permits, which the DMV will not approve until the company has fulfilled the requirements to the department\u2019s satisfaction.
