Our Contact Center Agents offer information on nearly all services available at the DMV, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Vehicle registration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to obtain a driver&nbsp;license (DL)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where to take a DL test<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What to expect at that test<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Driving Under the Influence (DUI)&nbsp;restrictions and much more<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-dmv-spacer-block spacer-box\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Visiting a DMV Office<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>&#8220;Start Here&#8221; Sign:<\/strong> All DMV Offices have a &#8220;Start Here&#8221; Appointments\/Persons with Disabilities Only sign. When visiting a DMV office, go to the &#8220;Start Here&#8221; sign to request any assistance or accommodation you might need.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Disability Service Counter:<\/strong> After checking in, you may receive a ticket for priority assistance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Office Manager:<\/strong> You can speak to the office manager at any DMV office that you call or visit. They are trained to help with disability-related needs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Driver Safety Offices:<\/strong> All <a href=\"\/portal\/driver-education-and-safety\/driver-safety-offices\/\">DMV Driver Safety Office<\/a> listings now include a map showing where people with disabilities can park and get building access for that specific office.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-dmv-spacer-block spacer-box\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For Speech Impaired, Deaf, and Hard of Hearing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have a speech or impairment or are deaf or hard of hearing, you can call a TTY toll-free number for assistance with DMV services. Make your accommodation request by choosing one of the options mentioned on the top of the page to interact with the DMV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"\/portal\/driver-education-and-safety\/online-learning-and-tests\/\">Online Learning and Tests<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Paper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Audio<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Person-to-Person<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pre-recorded DVD in ASL<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-dmv-spacer-block spacer-box\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Service Animals in DMV Offices<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Your service animal is welcome in all DMV field offices. You cannot be denied service because you use a service animal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Service animals are <strong>not<\/strong> required to wear special harnesses or IDs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Staff may only ask:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Is your animal a service animal?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What tasks has the animal been trained to perform?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>However, these questions may not be asked:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What is your disability?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Does your service animal have an ID card?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Has your animal been certified as a service animal?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A service animal may be asked to leave only if it is out of control or poses a direct threat to others. You may continue your DMV business without the animal if this occurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-dmv-spacer-block spacer-box\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is a Service Animal?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a service animal is any dog or animal specifically trained to assist an individual with a disability. Regardless of breed, size, or lack of official certification, these are considered working animals, not pets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>guides people who are blind<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>alerts people who are hearing impaired<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>pulls wheelchairs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>alerts and protects a person who may have seizures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>performs other special tasks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-dmv-spacer-block spacer-box\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Should You Be Treated?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As a customer with a service animal, you are entitled to the same treatment and access as any other visitor. You cannot be charged extra fees, required to pay a deposit, or segregated from other customers. While you are guaranteed equal access, having a service animal does not entitle you to faster or preferential service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You should not be asked to remove your animal from the office&nbsp;<strong>unless<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the animal is out of control and you are not trying to control it,&nbsp;<strong><em>or<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the service animal poses a direct threat to the health or safety of other people. Service animals must be leashed when inside a DMV field office if local county\/city ordinances require it.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-dmv-spacer-block
