{"id":14776,"date":"2020-04-15T15:39:31","date_gmt":"2020-04-15T22:39:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/handbook\/vehicle-industry-registration-procedures-manual-2\/special-plates\/pet-lovers-license-plates\/"},"modified":"2024-04-25T14:22:40","modified_gmt":"2024-04-25T21:22:40","slug":"pet-lovers-license-plates","status":"publish","type":"dmv_handbook","link":"https:\/\/www.dmv.ca.gov\/portal\/handbook\/vehicle-industry-registration-procedures-manual-2\/special-plates\/pet-lovers-license-plates\/","title":{"rendered":"21.210 Pet Lovers License Plates (VC \u00a75156)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Pet Lovers License Plates are available in sequential configurations of six characters and in personalized configurations of two to six characters and may be issued to automobiles, commercial vehicles (excluding apportioned vehicles), trailers, and motorcycles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Original Sequential License Plate Applications\u2014the  following must be submitted:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A completed Special Interest License Plate Application (REG 17).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Registration in the applicant\u2019s name or the documents required to register the vehicle to the applicant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>License plates currently assigned to the vehicle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The fees due.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Original or Exchange Personalized License Plate Applications\u2014the following must be submitted:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A completed REG 17.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The fees due.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Exchange<\/strong>\u2014Existing personalized license plates may be exchanged to personalized Olympic Training Center License Plates for a fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Renewal\/Reassignment<\/strong>\u2014An additional fee is required for renewal or reassignment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Retention<\/strong>\u2014An additional fee is required for retention of personalized license plate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Transfer of Ownership<\/strong>\u2014The license plate remains with the owner and the transfer is processed as usual.
