If your driver’s license (DL) or identification (ID) card has been lost, stolen, or damaged, you may request a replacement.

How to request a replacement DL online

  1. Complete Replacement Driver’s License Application online

    Note ID cards and commercial driver’s licenses (CDL) are not eligible for this application.

How to request a replacement CDL or ID in an office

  1. Complete a new application

    Use our solicitud en línea to apply for a replacement CDL or ID card.

  2. Visit a DMV office to complete the process

    Your replacement request isn’t complete until you go to a DMV office. You may either make an appointment, or check the current walk-in wait list time for your local office.

    Be prepared to pay the appropriate replacement licensing fee, have your photograph validated by DMV, and scan your thumbprint (to protect against identity theft).

  3. Receive your card in the mail

    You should receive your new card in the mail within three to four weeks.  If you have not received your CDL or ID after 60 days, visit Driver’s License & ID Card Status.
