Meet with someone from the DMV Career Center to explore job openings, learn how to apply, and take the first step toward joining the DMV team.
Step 1: Look for Jobs
Go to the CalCareers website to see current DMV jobs. You can also save your search and get alerts when new jobs are posted. Click “Get a State Job” to learn how to apply.
Step 2: Take an Exam
Before you can work for the State of California, you must pass a test. This test checks if you qualify for the job you want. If you meet the basic requirements, you can take the test when it is open. After you pass, you can apply for DMV jobs in that job type.
Step 3: Apply
Found a job or test you want to apply for? Create an account on CalCareers. Fill out and send your job application (STD. 678) online, or print it and mail or drop it off. After you submit it, you can check your status in your account.
